ISA Step Card, Debug the dead motherboard

  • Full compatible any motherboard with has ISA Bus Slot.
  • POST code indicator for free run mode.
  • Switch Step and free run mode in any time.
  • Set check point for MEMR (Memory Raise) or POST (POST code write). The Step card will halt the CPU when check point occurs.

  • Full compatible any motherboard with has PCI Bus Slot.
  • Support Port 80, MEMR, MEMR/W and IOR/W check point, and these function can be switched in any time.
  • Display the PCI bus ADDRESS and DATA information on 7-segment LED for HEX format.
  • To distinguish and display the CMD[3:0] and BE[3:0] from C/BE[3:0] signals. And also show the current PCI BUS command (IOR, IOW, CFGR, CFGW, MEMR or MEMW) on the step card.
  • Support step, trace and free run mode and switch them in any time.

JET-1046 PCI Step Card Debug Instruction

POST code = FF, CPU can't step

  • Check the power, RESET and their relative circuit firstly. Refer the CMD[3:0] LED and C/BE[3:0] signal of PCI step card to solve some bug for CPU command fault problem.

POST code = FF, CPU can step

  • The primary reason for this condition is address or data bus path failure. Used the step card can trace the address and data value step by step. User can compare their information to good one to find the bug. 

POST code stop at a fixed value

  • When POST code stop at a fixed value, it mean the PC system can't pass a specific BIOS POST function. Please use the POST code check point to let CPU stop at beginning of this POST test. Then switch to IOR/W check point mode and continues to do the step by step for IOR/W. Recode the the execution result and compare for good motherboard to solved the problem.
  • User can also check the BIOS POST code list to know the rough problem for motherboard. Check its relative circuit to solve the problem. 

JET-1046 Troubleshooting BIOS
The JET-1046 troubleshooting BIOS is designed for troubleshooting the data and address fault in CPU local bus, PCI bus and system ROM BIOS path. The engineer is able to find above fault in limitation step (about 50 steps) with same bug analysis method (about 5). This BIOS only works when system motherboard plug the JET-1046 PCI step card. (Please refer the user manual for detail description)
